B. H. Graning Landscapes Partners with Equinox Environmental on Major Town of Woodfin Project
The team at B. H. Graning Landscapes, Inc. (BHGL) is proud to partner with Equinox Environmental on the upcoming rebuild and restoration of Silver-Line Park for the Town of Woodfin. Construction is expected to begin during Spring/Summer 2026 with projected completion by October 2026, bringing major improvements to one of the area’s important public riverfront spaces.
Located along the French Broad River at 1066 Riverside Drive, Silver-Line Park experienced significant damage during Tropical Storm Helene, prompting a large-scale recovery and mitigation effort. The project combines park recovery, shoreline stabilization, and construction improvements designed to strengthen the park against future storm events while enhancing the visitor experience for the community.
A Comprehensive Riverfront Restoration Project
The project will focus on restoring storm-damaged park features, stabilizing sections of the riverbank along the French Broad River and constructing new permanent public restrooms for visitors.
As part of the rebuild, B. H. Graning Landscapes will lead all three aspects of the renovation: the shoreline restoration work, park recovery and reconstruction efforts, and the restroom portion of the project.
These components will work together to restore functionality to the park while improving long-term durability and flood resilience.
The project also represents an important collaboration between municipal leadership, environmental consultants, landscape architects, and experienced mountain contractors.

Equinox Environmental serves as the project’s prime design firm and has led the planning and environmental coordination for the rebuild.
Restoring the Park After Storm Damage
Silver-Line Park suffered extensive flooding damage during Tropical Storm Helene.

The park recovery portion of the project includes demolition, replacement, reconstruction, and new construction throughout the site.
Work within the park rebuild will include replacing damaged recreational amenities such as picnic tables, grills, signage, and park seating. Additional improvements include grading work, reconstruction of playground surfaces and amenities, utility service connections, and installation of new plant material throughout the park.
BHGL’s experience with municipal park construction, grading, drainage, and recreational landscape installation throughout Western North Carolina makes the company uniquely suited for this type of large-scale public recovery project.
.
Shoreline Restoration and Riverbank Stabilization
One of the most significant portions of the project involves stabilizing the riverbank that was compromised during the storm event. According to project documents, the riverbank stabilization scope includes strategic regrading and revegetation designed to mitigate future flooding impacts.
Riverfront construction in the mountains of Western North Carolina requires careful planning and environmental awareness. Slope conditions, stormwater movement, erosion concerns, and changing river levels all create challenges that demand specialized construction methods and experienced crews.
B. H. Graning Landscapes has extensive experience working on erosion control, drainage, shoreline stabilization, and environmentally sensitive construction projects throughout the region. The shoreline restoration work at Silver-Line Park will focus not only on repairing storm damage, but also on improving the long-term resilience of the riverbank against future flood events.

Playground Improvements and Restoration
A major portion of the Silver-Line Park rebuild will focus on restoring and improving the playground and surrounding family recreation areas following storm damage. Project plans include replacement of damaged playground surfaces and amenities, restoration of impacted play areas, and repairs to several existing play features throughout the park

The updated playground area is designed to create a safer, more durable, and more accessible space for children and families visiting the park. Plans also call for replacement of playground signage, restoration of surrounding landscaping, and repairs to specialty play elements, including the existing pirate ship feature and climbing log structures.
In addition to rebuilding damaged areas, the project includes grading and drainage improvements around the playground and pedestrian circulation areas to help better manage future stormwater impacts and flooding concerns. The overall goal is to restore the playground while improving long-term resilience and functionality for the community.
As construction progresses, the playground rebuild will become one of the most visible parts of the overall park transformation, helping return Silver-Line Park to an active and welcoming destination for families throughout the Woodfin area.
Public Restroom Reconstruction
Another major component of the project includes construction of permanent public restrooms for the park. Plans call for a new restroom structure including toilets, sinks, and hand drying equipment.
The restroom rebuild will also include associated site improvements such as concrete walkways and stormwater management features designed to improve accessibility and site functionality.
These upgrades will help modernize the park while creating a more comfortable and user-friendly experience for residents and visitors.

Building for the Future of Woodfin
Beyond simply repairing storm damage, the Silver-Line Park project represents an investment in the future of the Woodfin community. The rebuild combines FEMA recovery work with hazard mitigation improvements intended to strengthen the park against future storm impacts.
Throughout Summer and Fall 2026, BHGL plans to document the transformation of the park through pre-construction photography, progress updates, and final completion photos. The project will showcase the coordination and craftsmanship required to rebuild a public riverfront park in the challenging terrain of Western North Carolina.
The team at B. H. Graning Landscapes is honored to help bring this important public project to life alongside Equinox Environmental and the Town of Woodfin. From shoreline restoration and grading to park amenities and restroom reconstruction, the project reflects a shared commitment to creating resilient, functional, and welcoming public spaces for the community to enjoy for years to come.
