Project Spotlight: Rebuilding Silver-Line Park for the Town of Woodfin
One of the projects that best demonstrates the range of capabilities within B. H. Graning Contracting is currently underway along the French Broad River in Woodfin, North Carolina.
Following the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Helene, Silver-Line Park required much more than routine repairs. The popular riverfront park needed significant restoration and reconstruction to bring it back to the community while also creating a more resilient public space for the future.
B. H. Graning is proud to be working alongside the Town of Woodfin and Equinox Environmental on this important recovery project. The overall work combines construction, sitework, environmental restoration, landscaping, erosion control, and recreational improvements—bringing together many of the skills our teams have developed through years of working in the challenging terrain of Western North Carolina.
More Than a Rebuild
Silver-Line Park experienced extensive flooding during Hurricane Helene, leaving damage throughout the riverfront property. The rebuilding effort includes restoration of the park itself, stabilization of the French Broad River shoreline, construction of new permanent public restrooms, playground restoration, grading and drainage improvements, utility connections, new plantings, and replacement of damaged park amenities.
It is a project where no single construction specialty tells the entire story.
Crews have moved through multiple phases of work, beginning with erosion control, sediment removal, gravel installation, and initial site preparation. As work progressed, teams transitioned into landscape installation, restroom rough grading, river slope excavation, debris removal, and continued erosion and sediment-control measures.
For our Contracting team, projects like Silver-Line Park showcase the importance of versatility. Public construction requires careful planning and coordination while working alongside municipalities, designers, environmental professionals, subcontractors, suppliers, and other crews—all while keeping the larger project moving forward.
Craftsmanship with a Community Purpose
There is also something particularly meaningful about building a project that will ultimately belong to the entire community.
Silver-Line Park isn’t a private residence or commercial building that only a small group of people will experience. Once reopened, it will again become a place where children play, families gather, people enjoy the French Broad River, and residents and visitors spend time outdoors.
That makes the details matter.
The work taking place today—from grading a riverbank correctly to preparing the foundation for a restroom facility or restoring a playground—is creating something that will be used thousands of times long after our crews have packed up their equipment and moved on to the next project.

Building Back with the Future in Mind
The goal at Silver-Line Park isn’t simply to replace what Hurricane Helene damaged. The project also incorporates improvements intended to make the park more durable and resilient against future storm events.
Along the river, restoration work includes regrading and revegetation to stabilize compromised areas of the riverbank. Around the playground and pedestrian areas, grading and drainage improvements are designed to better manage stormwater. The project also includes new permanent public restroom facilities and associated site improvements.
It’s the type of project that demonstrates what B. H. Graning Contracting has grown to handle: complex construction in demanding mountain environments, where the finished product has to be functional, durable, thoughtfully built, and appropriate for the community it serves.
