Investing in People: The Foundation of B. H. Graning Landscapes, Inc.

At B. H. Graning Landscapes, Inc., we believe that exceptional landscapes start with exceptional people. As we reflect on the second quarter of 2025, our team has shown incredible resilience, focus, and commitment—qualities that not only drive our success but also define who we are as a company.

Celebrating Dedication and Milestones

This spring, we proudly recognized numerous work anniversaries, each representing years of dedication and growth within the company. From 1 to 9 years of service, these milestones remind us that our strength lies in the loyalty and effort of our team. Employees were even invited to share photos with their “most influential coworkers” as a fun and meaningful part of the celebration.

Promoting a Culture of Safety and Accountability

Our commitment to safety is non-negotiable. Every truck is equipped with a safety notebook to record incidents, near-misses, and site concerns. These tools help us address issues quickly and improve protocols. Employees are also regularly reminded to stay hydrated, recognize the signs of heat exhaustion, and look out for one another—especially during hot summer months.

Additionally, our operations and yard teams follow strict systems for tool tracking, fueling procedures, and shared space cleanliness. From tagging tools for repair to organizing the office printer area, these details matter—and they reflect the pride we take in everything we do.

Leadership Development Through BHGL University

Professional growth is a cornerstone of our company culture. Our in-house training program, B. H. Graning Landscapes University (BHGLU), continues to empower employees with the skills and knowledge needed to become future leaders. The current session, launched in June, includes hands-on training in landscaping techniques, safety, equipment use, and leadership development. Congratulations to Calistia Wolfe and Dalton Bobbitt for completing the program and taking the next step in their BHGL careers.

Engaging and Uplifting Company Culture

We also know the importance of celebrating accomplishments and building community. Our Employee Photo Calendar Contest gives team members a creative outlet to showcase their work. Voting takes place each month, and recent winners include Dalton Bobbitt, Ben Graning, Tony Miller, and Brandon Glenn.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to host our 20th Anniversary Company Party on September 19th at Bridge Park in Sylva, followed by the BHGL-sponsored football game at WCU on September 20th. These events are not just celebrations—they’re reflections of two decades of teamwork, growth, and commitment.

Recognizing Excellence

Each month, division leaders select Employees of the Month—team members who go above and beyond to embody BHGL’s values. Their hard work, resilience, and dedication set the tone for excellence and inspire those around them. We also celebrated a 5% quarterly bonus payout for our Sylva Construction team—just one of the ways we reward consistent effort and results.
