Labor Day is more than the unofficial end of summer. It is a day set aside to recognize the hard work, dedication, and contributions of America’s workforce—and at B. H. Graning Landscapes, Inc., it gives us an opportunity to celebrate the people who make everything we do possible.
From the mountainsides of Western North Carolina to job sites, maintenance routes, construction projects, our Landscape Supply yard, offices, and shops, our employees are the foundation of our company.
The People Behind the Work
When someone sees a finished landscape, a newly constructed outdoor space, a restored property, a freshly maintained lawn, or a completed construction project, they see the final result. What they may not see are the countless hours and people behind it.
They don’t always see the crews arriving early in the morning, loading trucks and equipment, working through changing mountain weather, solving unexpected problems, or putting the finishing touches on a project before heading home.
They may not see the estimators, designers, project managers, account managers, mechanics, administrative staff, bookkeepers, managers, and support teams working behind the scenes to keep projects organized, equipment running, customers informed, and crews moving forward.
Every role matters.
Hard Work Is Part of Who We Are
Since B. H. Graning Landscapes began in 2004, our company has grown tremendously. What started in Sylva has expanded into multiple locations, divisions, and specialized services throughout Western North Carolina.
That growth did not happen because of one person.
It happened because of employees who showed up, learned new skills, took on new responsibilities, trained the next generation of team members, and cared about doing the job right.
Our crews work in some of the most challenging terrain in the region. They build retaining walls, install landscapes and hardscapes, maintain properties, move earth, manage erosion, install drainage and irrigation systems, restore shorelines, build structures, prepare athletic fields, respond to snow and storms, and tackle projects that require experience, patience, and teamwork.
The work is not always easy—and that is exactly why the people doing it deserve recognition.
More Than a Crew
One of the things we are most proud of is the knowledge within our workforce. Many of our employees have spent years developing their craft, while others are just beginning careers in landscaping, construction, equipment operation, horticulture, maintenance, and the skilled trades.
Every project provides an opportunity for that knowledge to be shared.
Experienced employees teach newer team members. Crew leaders develop future leaders. Employees learn new equipment, techniques, and responsibilities. Over time, individuals become teams, and teams become the backbone of a company.
